Recent Davidson College (North Carolina) graduate Will Brewster is joining ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE to pursue his post-collegiate running career. The former Atlantic 10 Conference champion in the 5,000 (indoor 2016 & '17) and 10,000 meters (2016) graduated with a degree in Biology in May.
Program director/coach Mike Caldwell states, "We are excited to have Will join our group of outstanding athletes. He has excelled at the mid-distances (1500-5,000) since his high school career in Illinois. We believe he will not only become an additional asset to our program, but will benefit from our training philosophy and from running with our current athletes. He has a good range from the 1500 up through the 10,000 and fits in very well with the group." As a "junior" Will placed 10th nationally at the USATF Junior cross country championships and was an alternate for the Team USA Junior (19 & under) squad in 2013. During his collegiate career he was twice an NCAA qualifier at the 5,000-meter distance and placed 24th in the NCAA DI East preliminaries at Lexington, KY in late May. He is the Davidson school record holder at that distance with a time of 14:07.7. GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the 45-year-old Greenville Track Club, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Joy Real Estate, the Bare Minimum Track Club, generous individual contributors and partnerships with Performance Therapy, Carolina Spine and Rehab, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, NormaTec Recovery Boots and Cocoa Elite recovery products.
