Karl joined Greenville Track Club-ELITE in July of 2023, after graduating from the University of Tennessee. In his first race as a team member he placed an impressive 11th in the 2023 USATF 10K Road Championships at the Great Cow Harbor Run in Northport, NY. He then ran his first Half Marathon in Munich, Germany, where he placed second. He also ran that 13.1 mile distance in his next two races as he placed 4th in the Ameris Jacksonville Half Marathon (1:06:33) and then a huge personal best of 1:04:00 in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. 

In his second USATF National Championships, he placed 23rd in the Gate River Run 15K in Jacksonville, FL. After some time recovering from a slight injury, he won the Sunrise 8K in Simpsonville, SC with a new course record of 24:06. Almost a month later he placed 22nd in Atlanta's Peachier Road Race with a time of 30:43. 

After completing a year in the GTC-ELITE program, Karl secured a collegiate coaching position at Charleston Southern University, which was an opportunity to pursue his career interest in coaching.
