1. Change is Constant – Evolve Immediately
Don’t let the “this is always the way I’ve done it” mentality prevail. Growth comes with change. Don’t wait for change, EVOLVE immediately. Develop the plans for the future and begin to execute and implement the plans . . . NOW!
2. Set Goals, Plan Smart, Train Smart; Then Execute the Plan & Race Smart
Develop and set SMART goals and a plan to achieve them. Follow and execute the plan. Know when to push and when to back off. Listen to your coaches. Strategize then visualize the race and then run smart. The correct PACE is vital.
3. Doing ALL the Little Things Allows You to Achieve the BIG Things
The Devil is in the Details—Master the Fundamentals
The Little things ARE very important:
4. Stress + Rest = GROWTH
The best athletes prioritize recovery just as much as they prioritize time training.
5. Consistency and Patience are the provenances of improvement
There are no “magic workouts.” Be consistent and patient and improvement will happen.
6. Become a minimalist to be a maximalist
Realize you have limited time and energy. Devote it to what really matters.
7. Under promise, but OVER deliver
Don’t make big promises to impress yourself, the coaches, teammates, the organization, the running community, your friends . . . Impress everyone with the delivered results.
8. Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should
You don’t need to add to the plan. Execute the plan. Finish the workout feeling as if you could do one more repeat or run five more minutes. Don’t go to the bottom of the well in practice.
9. Finish FAST and STRONG
The final Kilometer should be your fastest. It is usually the strongest runner that kicks the best, not necessarily the fastest athlete.
10. “The Power is in the Group”
No one has ever accomplished anything on his or her own. There is no such thing as individual performance.
We all need some help to become great.
11. Always, DO the RIGHT Thing
GTC-ELITE thinks of itself as a responsible entity with the GVL community, embracing social responsibility.
We encourage our members to be honest and transparent and to also embrace diversity and practice sustainability
12. FUN Equals Success. Let’s Have FUN!
“The truth is: fun and success cannot be separated. Process and outcome are intimately related. You get both or neither.”
