asics Greenville Track Club-ELITE - a post-collegiate, Olympic development program
ASICS Greenville Track Club ELITE's Austin Steagall ran a personal best for a 10K on the roads as he won the Lake Murray Dam Run, in Irmo, SC. The current leader in the South Carolina Road Race Rankings ran 30:08 (4:51 per mile) as he won his fourth consecutive competition. It was also the sixth in-state race in 2018 that he was the first South Carolinian. He earned $200 and a crystal award for first place.
Greenville area runners took the first four places as James Quattlebaum (30:36) and Frank DeVar (31:21) placed second and third. Steagall's training partner and teammate, Zach Mains, finished fourth with a time of 31:28.
GTC-ELITE was established in 2012 and produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles.
