ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Austin Steagall continues to lead the South Carolina Road Race Rankings as of November 3, 2018. He has been the first South Carolinian finisher in all six of the 2018 road races in which he has competed within the state. He won five of those outright and was second overall at the TD Bank Reedy River Run 10K. His victories include: the Greenville News Run Downtown 5K, the Peach Festival 5K, the Michelin Memorial 5K and the Governor's Cup Main Street Mile in Columbia. His most recent victory was at the Lake Murray Dam Run 10K on September 25, where he ran to a personal best of 30:08.
Fifth and sixth in the current ranking are ASICS GTC-ELITE athletes Eddie Garcia and Zach Mains. Both runners joined the post-collegiate, Olympic development program this past spring. The top seven ranked performers are all currently residing in Greenville. Steagall's next competition will be the VCU Health 8K in Richmond, VA on November 10, which will not affect the standings since it is not within South Carolina. Garcia and Mains are scheduled to compete in the Markel Richmond Half Marathon on the same day. GTC-ELITE was established in 2012 and produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles. The post-collegiate, Olympic development program is sponsored by ASICS, the 46-year-old Greenville Track Club, ScanSource, Joy Real Estate, generous individual contributors and partnerships with Performance Therapy, Carolina Spine and Rehab, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery products, FinalSurge (on-line training log), The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, NormaTec Recovery Boots, Cocoa Elite recovery products and Synergy Performance (mental performance). The club is a proud member of both the Road Runners Club of America and the USATF.
