![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Austin Steagall covered the final 400 meters in a brisk 60.3 seconds to smash the Facility Record for 3,000 meters during the Bob Pollock Invitational at the Clemson University Indoor Track & Field complex. Steagall took the lead with approximately 600 meters remaining in the race and crossed the finish line with a time of 8:04.45. The former record of 8:15.2 was set by North Carolina's Issac Presson in 2014. It was a personal best of over 14 seconds for Steagall. Stegall's ASICS GTC-ELITE teammate Mark Leininger also improved his personal best while placing 8th with a time of 8:16.02. It was the first track event for each of the athletes since last June, although both have performed well on the roads during the fall and winter seasons. Steagall set a course record in a road 5,000 just last week as he ran 14:14 in the Greenville News Run Downtown in the post-collegiate program's hometown of Greenville, SC. GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the 44-year-old Greenville Track Club, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Joy Real Estate, the Bare Minimum Track Club, generous individual contributors and partnerships with Performance Therapy, Carolina Spine and Rehab, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, and NormaTec Recovery Boots.
