![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes Austin Steagall and Mark Leininger traveled to Raleigh, NC in search of new personal bests in their respective events. On an almost perfect Friday evening Steagall cut 10 seconds from his previous best to run 13:58.14 for 5,000 meters on the Paul Kerr track at North Carolina State University. Steagall placed 8th in one of the fastest 5,000 meter races in the long and storied history of the Raleigh Relays as eight men broke 14:00. Not long after Steagall had finished, his teammate Leininger ran twice that distance as he placed 14th in the 10,000 meters. Mark also reduced his personal best by ten seconds as he covered the 25 laps in 29:18.46. He ran very even 5,000 splits of 14:39 and 14:39. His PB had been set at this same meet in 2016. Earlier in the evening their teammate Kimberly Ruck placed 10th in the women's 5,000 with a time of 16:24.98 in her first outdoor meet since 2015. While well off her personal best of 16:01, it was a decent effort in a very deep field and her third best track 5000 post collegiately. GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the 45-year-old Greenville Track Club, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Joy Real Estate, the Bare Minimum Track Club, generous individual contributors and partnerships with Performance Therapy, Carolina Spine and Rehab, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, and NormaTec Recovery Boots.
