![]() Six-time NCAA DII All-American Shawnee Carnett will join the ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE post-collegiate, Olympic Development group following her December graduation from West Virginia's Concord University. "We are excited to have Shawnee join our group, which has been composed of athletes specializing at distances from 5,000 meters to the marathon," stated ASICS GTC-ELITE director Mike Caldwell. "This extends our spectrum from 800 meters through the marathon, but meets with our mission to have athletes develop and qualify for USA national championships and the 2016 Olympic Trials." Carnett, who hails from Virginia, has won two NCAA DII national titles at 800 meters. Her first was at the 2011 Outdoor Championships and the most recent was at the 2014 Indoor Championships. She has a personal best of 2:06.19. "We are excited to provide an opportunity for Shawnee to continue to develop following her outstanding collegiate career mentored by Coach Mike Cox," Caldwell continued. "She has good speed over both the 200 and 400 meter distances and is committed to working hard. We believe her range may include the 1500 meters in the future." GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 42-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
