![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Ryan Root ran 2:23:32 to place 22nd overall in the 41st edition of Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN. The marathon had 6437 finishers over the course that runs along the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior from Two Harbors to Duluth's Canal Park. The former North Central College (Illinois) runner covered the initial 10K in 32:58 and passed the halfway point at 13.1 miles in 1:10:25. Ryan passed 20 miles in 1:48:15, but slowed over the final 10K to average 5:29 per mile for the total distance. It was only his second attempt at the distance and was a personal best by over three minutes. GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the 45-year-old Greenville Track Club, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Joy Real Estate, the Bare Minimum Track Club, generous individual contributors and partnerships with Performance Therapy, Carolina Spine and Rehab, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, NormaTec Recovery Boots and Cocoa Elite recovery products.
