![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is proud to announce the addition of their newest member, Ricky Flynn. A 7-time All American and NCAA DIII Cross Country champion while earning his degree in business at Lynchburg College, Ricky also earned his MBA at his alma mater. Following his outstanding collegiate career, Flynn qualified for the 2012 USA Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston, TX by meeting the qualifying criteria of completing a Half Marathon under 1:05:00 when he ran 1:04:14 (4:54 per mile pace). At Houston in January of 2012, Ricky toed the line with the nations best long distance runners. Running conservatively, he passed the halfway point in 1:07:05 and was the only runner among the top 20 finishers to run negative splits (faster second half than first). He placed 12 overall with a debut marathon of 2:13:41. Flynn has solid credentials on the track with personal bests of 13:59 (5,000) and 29:21 (10,000). He has also improved his best Half Marathon to an impressive 1:03:44. "We are very happy to have Ricky join our growing training/competitive group," stated GTC-ELITE coach Mike Caldwell. "He has very solid running credentials and also a strong academic background, which we hope he will use to reach not only his running, but also his career goals. He has shown that he is a hard worker and can get results. We believe that with the experience and resources we have to offer, Ricky can be one of the nation's best in the years to come." The GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS America, the 42-year-old Greenville Track Club, ScanSource, Soleus watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, ElliptiGO, Roll Recovery, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
