![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Joe Niemiec returned to his home state of Michigan and placed 14th in the USATF 25K Championships. The national championship competition is conducted within Grand Rapids' Amway River Bank Run, which is the largest 25K event in the country. Niemiec, who relocated with his wife and children from Michigan to Greenville in the later part of 2018, improved his personal best for the distance by over 70 seconds. Starting conservatively, per the race plan, he then settled into a pace just under 5:10 per mile after 5K. He passed the half-marathon (13.1-mile) split at 1:07:24 before finishing at 1:19:52 (5:08/mile). GTC-ELITE was established in 2012. The program produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and one qualifier for the 2019 Pam American Games in. Lima, Peru.
