![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is proud to announce that Mark Leininger will be joining the post-collegiate, Olympic Development group in Greenville, SC. Leininger is a 2013 graduate of American University in Washington, DC, where he majored in Business. He spent the last couple of years studying toward a Masters degree in Health Promotion. Mark is originally from Colts Neck, New Jersey, where he graduated from Colts Neck High School. As a prep, he was coached by the highly respected Jim Schlentz and won the state championship over 3200 meters. At American University, Mark ran under the direction of Olympian Matt Centrowitz and assistant coach Sean Graham. As a senior he was runner-up in the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at 5,000 meters and was third in the 10,000. "We look forward to Mark joining our program and to providing coaching and guidance in his pursuit of qualifying for the USA Olympic Trials," stated Mike Caldwell, ASICS GTC-ELITE director and coach. "He has some solid performances over 5,000 (14:08) and 10,000 (29:30) and has the potential to excel at the longer distances. We'll be targeting improving at 5,000 and 10,000 while working toward a fast half-marathon in the near future. He has run 49:08 for ten miles, so he definitely has some range." GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 43-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The Proaxis Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
