asics Greenville Track Club-ELITE - a post-collegiate, Olympic development program
ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Mark Leininger ventured north to New Haven, CT for the USATF National 20K Championships conducted with the Faxon Law New Haven Road Races. The former American University standout ran 1:02:25 to place 26th in one of the deepest fields in the race's history. His average pace was 5:01 per mile for the 12.4 mile race. Leininger improved from his 34th place finish in 2015.
"We are proud of Mark's effort today in New Haven," stated ASICS GTC-ELITE coach Mike Caldwell. "He is coming off a slight mid-leg injury a couple of weeks ago and was still able to perform well today. It is a good beginning to his fall season on the roads." He is scheduled to compete at The Great Cow Harbor 10K in Northport, NY on September 17 and then in the USATF National 10-Mile Championships in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN in early October.
GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, Joy Real Estate, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
