![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Eddie Garcia ran a yearly best of 14:12.05 for 5,000 meters on the Vanderbilt University track to place seventh in the Music City Distance Carnival. On a pleasant Friday evening in the Tennessee capital, Garcia continued his impressive season as he prepares for the marathon event in the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru in July. After running with the lead pack for the first two kilometers, he hung with the second group for the remainder of the race and closed with a 63.8 final circuit. He is scheduled to compete in the 10,000-meters at the Portland Track Festival in Oregon next weekend. GTC-ELITE was established in 2012. The program produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and one qualifier for the 2019 Pam American Games Marathon in. Lima, Peru.
