ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes Adam Freudenthal and Alison Parris both ran to new course records in winning the Edouard Michelin Memorial 5K. Freudenthal led wire-to-wire as he clocked 14:43 to best the 15:01 record he shared with former teammate Chass Armstrong from last year's event. Parris, running in her first competition since joining the ASICS GTC-ELITE program in May, was timed in 16:52 and broke teammate Kimberly Ruck's year-old record of 17:38.
GTC-ELITE's Chris Caldwell followed teammate Freudenthal across the line as the runner-up in 15:55, while Ruck bested her course record by 22 seconds in finishing third in 17:12. This was the first competition of the season for the group, following a training break. A beautiful Saturday morning greeted the largest turnout for this annual event with 934 participants. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.

Congrats to all of you for a job well done. Keep your eyes on the ultimate goal and just think of this as a step in the right direction. Good running, Adam and Alison, for sure. Gotta keep working on those arms, Alison!! Know you, Kimberly and Chris were not as pleased with your efforts but you still made GTC Elite and all your teammates look good. Keep your sights on the goal!!
