![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Nicole DiMercurio followed her personal record at 1500 meters last week with a win, and another personal best, in the Women's Invitational 5,000 meters at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, TN. The University of Georgia graduate ran with the chase pack behind only the designated pace-setter (Sarah Pease) and the Boulder Track Club's Maor Tiyouri for the first 2600 meters, then took the lead and passed 3K in 9:44.62. Running the final 1800 meters by herself, DiMercurio cut eleven seconds from her previous best and won handily with a time of 16:17.68. It was a very good effort on a hot (85 degrees) and humid Saturday evening on the Vanderbilt University track. DiMercurio's teammate Alison Parris suffered over the final two kilometers from the heat, but still managed to place fourth with a time of 16:49.12. The race was streamed live on Flotrack and the 5,000 can be viewed at the following link: http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/252290-Music-City-Distance-Carnival-2015/video/771421-Womens-5K#.VXUGqUvIUfM GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 43-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The Proaxis Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
