![]() Nicole DiMercurio, running for ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE, ran a personal best of 34:02 to place second among the women in the 60,000 participant Peachtree Road Race. The former University of Georgia runner returned to the event in which she has often participated with her father and followed only the Oregon Track Club's Alexi Pappas (33:28) across the women's finish line. For her efforts, she earned $1500. It was an improvement of 53 seconds from Nicole's 2014 Peachtree performance. Teammate Alison Parris, running in only the second 10K of her career, ran a personal best of 35:12 to place sixth among women and only one finish position out of the award money. The race which celebrated its 46th edition was run under cloudy skies as rain fell over the course from fashionable Buckhead to the finish near Midtown's Piedmont Park. Due to lightening and extreme conditions warnings, the runners were cleared from the park following the finish and the awards ceremony was cancelled. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 43-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The Proaxis Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.

I am not surprised that Nicole DiMercurio got the second place at Atlanta's Peachtree 10K last 2015. She was on her best shape that time, and her goal was to reach the top. Three years had passed and things have changed. She may not be as active as she was before, but still she created her own legacy, which no one can erase. She's a legend because she has proven a lot of thing already. She will always have my respect, and I am sure that people who are into marathon feel the same thing too!
