ASICS Greenville Track Club ELITE's Frank DeVar and Carolyn Watson ran to victories in the Spinx RunFest 5K in downtown Greenville, SC on a beautiful late October morning. It was the first competition as a GTC-ELITE athlete for DeVar, who joined the program in August. The former Washington, DC resident led from the start and covered the winding route in 15:32.
Watson ran 17:07, a personal best by eleven seconds, in the women's division and won by a minute and 43 seconds.
Their ASICS GTC-ELITE teammates spent the morning working as course monitors for the Greenville Track Club, after working the race packet-pickup on Friday. "It is good to volunteer and also fun to see all the runners in our running community," stated Austin Steagall.
GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the 44-year-old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, Joy Real Estate, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
