asics Greenville Track Club-ELITE - a post-collegiate, Olympic-development program
ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE had four athletes compete in the High Performance sections at the 12th edition of the Portland Track Festival in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego, OR. Eddie Garcia highlighted the first day (Saturday) by winning "Section 2" of the men's 10,000-meters with a new US Virgin Islands national record of 29:18.37
Then on a beautiful Oregon Sunday afternoon, Avery Martin ran 3:48.33 to place 30th in the 1500-meter event. Although passing 1200 meters in 3:02, he was never able to free himself from the very competitive field while running his second best time of the season. He had run 3:45.91 the week before in Nashville's Music City Distance Carnival.
In the men's 3000-meter Steeplechase, Victor Pataky took the lead with just after two kilometers. However, he experienced an unfortunate slip on the water jump barrier and took a nasty fall into the water pit. He quickly gathered himself and caught up to the back of the leading pack. He managed to finish third in "Section 2" with a time of 8:57.77, which was only one second off his personal best set last week in Nashville. Victor finished 14th overall in the combined results (both sections).
Ryan Bugler had a good showing as he ran 8:58.77, which was also one second off his personal best and an 11-second improvement from the previous week. Ryan finished 15th overall in the combined results.
