ASICS GTC-ELITE's Kimberly Ruck won the James Island Connector 5K in Charleston, SC to collect the $250 cash award. On a humid and windy morning, Ruck covered the route over the bridge connecting Charleston to James Island in 17:54. Her GTC-ELITE teammate, Chris Caldwell was second ($150) in the men's division with a 16:01.
In the concurrent 10K event, GTC-ELITE's Chass Armstrong placed second ($150) in 31:38 with teammate Josh Cashman third ($100). "The course was a little more difficult than we expected and the wind and humidity were not ideal conditions for fast running, but it was a good event and a lot of fun," stated Armstrong following the race. "It was my first time visiting Charleston and I was really impressed."
The group is sponsored by ASICS, the 42-year old Greenville Track Club, Soleus watches, Performance Therapy, ScanSource, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, ElliptiGO and the Bare Minimum Track Club.
