Weitzel and Mastandrea 1st and 2nd in Final 2024 South Carolina Road Race Open & Age Group Rankings1/26/2025 Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Jason Weitzel and Jack Mastandrea were ranked 1st and 2nd in the 2024 South Carolina Open and Age Group Road Race Rankings published by USATF SC statistician Bill Marable. To be ranked a runner must have competed in at least three South Carolina road races on certified courses in their age group during the year. All races on certified courses are weighted with the toughest of the course taken into consideration. The top three performances for each runner are listed. Races outside of the confines of South Carolina are not considered in these rankings. Weitzel and Mastandrea have been ranked among the top in the monthly SC Road Race Rankings for much of 2024. Weitzel had the fastest 5K performance with time of 14:12 (GTC Run Downtown), which was only one second faster than Mastandrea's 14:13 (Michelin Memorial 5K). Jack's 29:04 was the second fastest 10K by a South Carolina resident in 2024, only behind James Quattlebaum's State Record of 28:43. Both of those performances were at the Cooper River Bridge Run. Jason had a best of 29:24 (Cooper River Bridge Run) and won Greenville's United Community Reedy River Run in 29:45, where Jack placed third in 30:09. 2024 Final South Carolina Men's Open Division Road Race RankingsGreenville Track Club-ELITE was established in 2012 and is well into its second decade as a post-collegiate, Olympic-development program. The program's runners set four South Carolina State road race records in 2020 (5K, 15K and Half Marathon--twice) and three (15K, 10-Mile and 20K) in 2021. GTC-ELITE produced the South Carolina Men's 2020 Long Distance Runner of the Year and recently had the top two ranked South Carolina road racers for 2024.
