On a clear and crisp Saturday morning, Dylan Hassett and Kate Dodds placed 30th and 31st respectively at the 2016 USATF Club Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, FL. The two ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes covered the rolling 6-kilometer course at Apalachee Regional Park in 20:41 and 20:49. The race was won by 2016 USA Olympian Colleen Quigley, who covered her former collegiate (Florida State University) home course in 19:31. ASICS GTC-ELITE's Alison Parris (21:48), Carolyn Watson (21:55) and Kimberly Ruck (22:18) placed 79th, 89th and 104th to complete the team's scoring. The women placed 11th of 24 teams in the final standings and were a mere three points out of 9th place. "We were a little disappointed that we didn't place higher in the team competition," stated program director Mike Caldwell. "Dylan was ill going into the race, but was gutsy and stayed near the leaders for much of the race and Kate had an excellent performance. A couple of our veterans had off days and that's difficult to overcome in these high performance competitions where every finish place is vital. We also thought Carolyn did a good job at a distance much longer than her usual 1500/mile events." In the men's 10K competition, the team's Austin Steagall, who also was ill preceding the race, gamely started but was never competitve as he placed 176th in a field of 307.
