ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes swept the men's and women's titles for the fourth consecutive year at the Edouard Michelin Memorial 5K conducted at the Michelin Conference Center just outside of Greenville, SC. Austin Steagall, a recent graduate of Mt. Olive University and an NCAA DII All American in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, covered the 5K route in a new event record of 14:42. That was one second better than the previous event record of 14:43, set by former ASICS GTC-ELITE athlete Adam Freudenthal in 2014 on a slightly different course.
In the women's competition, former College of William and Mary standout Dylan Hassett ran to victory with a time of 17:02. She was followed by teammates Kate Dodds (2nd/17:33), Carolyn Watson (3rd/18:03) and two-time past winner Alison Parris (4th/18:31). GTC-ELITE produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, FinalSurge, Joy Real Estate, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
