ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes Adam Freudenthal and Alison Parris both ran to new course records in winning the Edouard Michelin Memorial 5K. Freudenthal led wire-to-wire as he clocked 14:43 to best the 15:01 record he shared with former teammate Chass Armstrong from last year's event. Parris, running in her first competition since joining the ASICS GTC-ELITE program in May, was timed in 16:52 and broke teammate Kimberly Ruck's year-old record of 17:38.
GTC-ELITE's Chris Caldwell followed teammate Freudenthal across the line as the runner-up in 15:55, while Ruck bested her course record by 22 seconds in finishing third in 17:12. This was the first competition of the season for the group, following a training break. A beautiful Saturday morning greeted the largest turnout for this annual event with 934 participants. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.

![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is proud to announce the addition of Nicole DiMercurio to their post-collegiate Olympic Development competitive program. DiMercurio is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia, where she majored in Communications. A native Georgian and Atlanta-born, she currently resides in Suwanee, GA. "We are looking for young athletes with the potential to continue their development and Nicole definitely fits that description," stated Coach Laura Caldwell. "Our athletes really liked Nicole during her recent visit and she should fit right into our training group. Plus, she really liked the Greenville area and should add value to our community." DiMercurio has recorded personal bests of 4:50 for the mile, 9:46 for 3,000, 16:28 for 5,000 and 34:30 for 10,000. During her senior year as a Bulldog, she placed 25th at the NCAA South Region Cross Country championships. On the track, she was 5th in the Southeastern Conference 10,000 and 8th in the 5,000. She completed her collegiate career by qualifying for and competing in the first round of the NCAA Track & Field Championships in both the 5,000 and 10,000. The Appalachian State University graduate will be relocating to Greenville from Boone, NC, where he majored in Exercise Science and was a standout on the Mountaineers perennially strong distance squad. "We are excited to be able to work with Brian at the post-collegiate level," stated GTC-ELITE director Mike Caldwell. "I have observed him in competition over his NCAA career and believe he has a lot of untapped potential in the longer distances such as 10,000, Half-Marathon and beyond. He had a good career at App State and Coach Curcio agrees that he has not achieved his peak performances, yet. We believe we can help him reach his goals and achieve his dreams." Graves becomes yet another GTC-ELITE athlete who prepped in the state of Maryland before competing at the NCAA level, joining Ricky Flynn and Alison Parris. He is also familiar with his former ASU teammate and friend, Chris Caldwell, so should be able to fit into the program environment immediately. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors. |
