![]() ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE welcomes the addition of Trent Binford-Walsh as the post collegiate Olympic Development group's newest member. The 2013 University of Pittsburgh graduate will be relocating to Greenville from his current home in Bethlehem, PA to pursue his running goals and dreams. "Trent is a unique young man and has been self-coached since he decided to make running a primary priority in his life. He and our coaching staff believe he has the potential to progress in multiple middle distance and distance events as he becomes a part of a more formal training process with our ASICS GTC-ELITE program," stated director/coach Mike Caldwell. "He has good range and has competed well from 800 meters up to a road 10K." "I'm excited to join a team with such dedicated athletes and experienced coaches, and I plan on making the most out of this amazing opportunity", explained Trent. "The positive team dynamics I observed while visiting Greenville are exactly what I have been looking for in a running group the past few years. I can't wait to run with the team this summer and represent GTC-elite at XC Club Nationals. I also am looking forward to moving to Greenville and becoming an active member of the community." Trent played soccer throughout high school and ultimate frisbee through most of his college career. As a senior in high school he was allowed to race at XC and Track meets but since soccer remained his primary sport, he was rarely able to run with the XC team. As a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, he gave up ultimate frisbee to pursue running at a higher level. He joined the Club XC team and was runner-up at the NIRCA 2012 cross-country championships. That year he also won the Pittsburgh Great Race 10K. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.
