ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is excited to announce that recent Florida State University graduate Chelsi Woodruff will be joining the post-collegiate, Olympic Development group in Greenville, SC. The Winter Park, FL native recently earned All Atlantic Coast Conference honors after placing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2015 ACC championships. "We are pleased that Chelsi has decided to continue her running career and pursue her dreams as a part of our developing group of post-collegiate athletes," stated director Mike Caldwell. "While she focused on the steeplechase in college, our plan will definitely include the flat 1500 and 5000 meter events, which will increase her speed and strength." Woodruff competed on the Seminoles nationally ranked cross country team, which placed 12th at the 2014 NCAA DI championships. She also earned All Region honors at the NCAA South championships. On the track, she was a two-time qualifer for the NCAA East Region Preliminary meet in the steeplechase in 2014 & '15. Native Texan Dylan Doss has been selected to join the ASICS GTC-ELITE post collegiate, Olympic Development program located in beautiful Greenville, SC. Doss is coming off a 2015 track season in which he earned NCAA Division II All America honors by placing fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal best of 8:51.37. Hailing from the town of Carlsbad, TX, Doss graduated in 2014 from West Texas A&M University and then ran for Angelo State University in 2015, while he pursued his Masters degree. He continued to improve his times in the steeplechase, which is the event he will focus on for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials. ASICS GTC-ELITE's management team of Bill Keesling, Mike and Laura Caldwell were each impressed with Dylan's potential after meeting with him on a recent interview/visit to Greenville. "Dylan's recent times in the steeple are very good in relation to some of his other collegiate performances," noted Mike Caldwell. "Once he transitions to the post-collegiate level training, we believe he has some potential upside from 1500 to 5,000 meters, although the focus will definitely be the 3000-meter steeplechase." "Dylan is truly an extrovert and should fit in quickly in the Greenville community, once he arrives in August," explained Caldwell. "Although he has a degree in business, his interests include coaching in the future which should fit in well with our running-related community outreach activities." Doss is the second addition to the post-collegiate program since May, as former American University standout Mark Leininger was also recently selected and announced and will be arriving in early July. GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 43-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The Proaxis Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors. ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Nicole DiMercurio followed her personal record at 1500 meters last week with a win, and another personal best, in the Women's Invitational 5,000 meters at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, TN. The University of Georgia graduate ran with the chase pack behind only the designated pace-setter (Sarah Pease) and the Boulder Track Club's Maor Tiyouri for the first 2600 meters, then took the lead and passed 3K in 9:44.62. Running the final 1800 meters by herself, DiMercurio cut eleven seconds from her previous best and won handily with a time of 16:17.68. It was a very good effort on a hot (85 degrees) and humid Saturday evening on the Vanderbilt University track. DiMercurio's teammate Alison Parris suffered over the final two kilometers from the heat, but still managed to place fourth with a time of 16:49.12. The race was streamed live on Flotrack and the 5,000 can be viewed at the following link: http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/252290-Music-City-Distance-Carnival-2015/video/771421-Womens-5K#.VXUGqUvIUfM GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 43-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The Proaxis Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors. |
