ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is excited to announce their partnership with Stryd "Run with Power," which is based out of Boulder, Colorado. Stryd's Evan Swartz commented, "Stryd is a wearable power meter designed for running. As a foot pod that clips on the shoe Stryd is able to report an incredible amount of data based on the motion of the foot. Stryd can be used by anyone to improve their running performance and we are extremely excited to help the Greenville Track Club-ELITE learn more about their running to aid in training towards their goals." Stryd is leading the evolution of measuring "power" for running. "Power" has been utilized by elite cyclists and their coaches for quite some time and calculates the work completed in units or watts. "We believe some of the metrics gained from using Stryd's power meters will allow us to get a better understanding of workloads on not only a specific workout, but for a specific training micro or mesocycle," explained Mike Caldwell. Caldwell, the Director/Coach for the post-collegiate, Olympic-development program, has a formal educational background in Movement Science and stays current with new concepts and technologies. "Since we don't plan our training by the number of miles, but more about the active duration, measuring "power" and the resulting parameters are very interesting measurement concepts," Caldwell continued. "We have been using Stryd for a few months and are still in the early stages of calibrating with our athletes and learning which metrics are more important to monitor." Stryd is also compatible with most GPS watches and transfers data to the Final Surge app, which ASICS GTC-ELITE uses to plan, record and monitor their training. Stryd measures your running power. Power accounts for your speed, terrain change, form, and fatigue, so you can conquer any race course in real time — from 5K to marathon. GTC-ELITE was established in 2012. The program produced four qualifiers for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles.
