Blake Wysocki will be joining the ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE post collegiate program. The native Ohioan recently graduated from Shawnee State University with a degree in Exercise Science. "Blake really liked our program setup and the Greenville area on a visit and has decided to pursue his running goals and dreams following his graduation. He is a running fanatic and has assisted Coach Eric Putnam with the Shawnee State program, which has done very well in the NAIA championships," stated GTC-ELITE director/coach Mike Caldwell. "We developed our program to give athletes like Blake an opportunity to train and improve as they grow into their peak years as a distance runner. Blake has qualified under our "B" standard and we look forward to assisting in his progress and development. ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE's Adam Freudenthal used a last lap kick to win the 5,000 meters in the 17th Annual Blue Shoes Invitational at Furman University on Saturday night in the venue's first meet conducted under the lights. Racing on the familiar surface of the track where he does much of his training, the former Winthrop star set a new event record with a time of 14:35.11. The ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is proud to announce that former James Madison University cross country and track standout Alison Parris will be joining our post-collegiate, Olympic Development group. Alison graduated in 2011 after a collegiate career that included earning NCAA Southeast All Region honors in 2008, '09 and '10. She was the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) cross country champion and Athlete of the Year in 2010 and also won the Eastern College Athletic Conference harrier title that year. An individual qualifier for the 2009 NCAA XC Championships, she also qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Round at 5,000 meters in 2011 and was the CAA 5,000 meter champion. Alison had a goal of competing post collegiately following her graduation and was selected to attend the inaugural RunPro camp hosted by Team USA-Minnesota. Due to a lingering injury, she decided to take some time off to return to full health before pursuing a professional running career. Her running resume includes personal bests ranging from 2:10 over 800 meters to 16:27 for 5,000 meters. "I am happy to be joining this prestigious team, and am grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to developing as a post-collegiate runner under the guidance of Mike and Laura Caldwell. After my visit to Greenville, I knew I couldn’t ask for a better training environment. I am excited for what we can all accomplish together!" "We are very happy that Alison has decided to join our growing group of post-collegiate athletes," stated director Mike Caldwell. "Alison is a bright young woman with running goals that fit perfectly with our program's mission and objectives." Over 31,000 runners finished the 10-kilometer race, which included a 200-foot climb over the bridge, from Mt. Pleasant to Charleston, SC. The former NCAA DIII national cross country champion was the second American finisher, just three seconds behind Charleston's Michael Banks--the reigning South Carolina Runner of the Year (2013). The top ten finishers hailed from Africa and consisted of a mixture of Ethiopian, Moroccan and Kenyan athletes. Flynn earned $2,000 for being the second American.
