ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE would like to welcome Carolyn Watson to the Greenville, SC, post-collegiate Olympic development program. The 2013 graduate of Cedarville University has relocated to Greenville from her former residence in Ohio to pursue her running dreams. Watson is a native of Oakwood, OH, majored in Psychology in college and is currently working on a post-graduate degree.

After her collegiate career, she also was an assistant coach at Cedarville and is married to former Cedarville distance runner Clay Watson. During the last year she made a significant improvement at 1500 meters post-collegiately under the guidance of Coach David Dobson, who is also the highly successful coach at Centerville High School in Ohio.

"Part of our mission at ASICS GTC-ELITE is to provide  opportunities to post-collegiate athletes that we believe we can assist to continue their athletic development," explained  director/coach Mike Caldwell.  "Although Carolyn ran competitively at Cedarville, her rapid development after graduation under the guidance of Coach Dobson gave us a glimpse of her potential at 1500 meters. We would like to continue that direction and also build her strength and aerobic development to also compete from 800  through 5000 meters."

GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 44-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.

ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE is proud to announce that Kate Dodds will be joining the post-collegiate, Olympic development group based in Greenville, SC. Dodds recently completed her collegiate running career at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and graduated in December with a degree in Psychology.

She earned NCAA Division II All American honors in Cross Country in 2014 and in Outdoor Track & Field in 2015. She finished 3rd at last year's NCAA DII National Championships in the 10,000 meter event. The native of Ambler, PA, was also named a Capital One DII Academic All American for 2014-15.

Kate was coached by Bloomsburg head coach Bernie Empie, who believes she has a high upside for future improvement in the distance events. "She only competed in the 10,000 four times, so we believe she has potential at that distance," remarked Empie.

ASICS GTC-ELITE coach Laura Caldwell will be working with Kate on a daily basis as the group continues to develop. "Kate is a good addition to the fine group of women that we currently have and should make us even more competitive," stated Caldwell. Two of those women recently qualified for next month's USA Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles and the team placed 8th at the USATF Club Cross Country National Championships last month in San Francisco, CA.

GTC-ELITE is sponsored by ASICS, the 44-year old Greenville Track Club, Performance Therapy, Greenville Health System's North Greenville Hospital, ScanSource, Soleus Running Watches, Boston Bill Sunglasses, Roll Recovery, The TD Bank Foundation, The Kroc Center, Carolina Spine and Rehab, The ATI Running Academy, ElliptiGO, the Bare Minimum Track Club and generous individual contributors.

It was a very good morning for ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes as all four entrants ran under the respective qualifying times for the upcoming USA Olympic Marathon Trials in February. On a cool and rainy morning, the "Olympic Trails Marathon Project" as part of the Jacksonville Bank Half-Marathon, was a great success. Twenty seven men ran under the qualifying time of 1:05:00 and fourteen women under the 1:15:00 standard.

Mark Leininger led the ASICS GTC-ELITE contingent placing ninth in 1:04:27, while running a personal best of a whopping five minutes. He was followed by teammate Ricky Flynn, who already had his qualifier but used the race as a tune-up for the Marathon Trials in LA, placing 25th with a time of 1:04:50.

Dylan Hassett placed fifth among the women with a time of 1:14:09 and Nicole DiMercurio placed 12th in 1:14:37. It was both athlete's first half-marathon and their first race longer than 15K.
