Weitzel ran a fine 14:20 in his first race since running 2:11:44 for 9th place in the USATF Marathon Championships at Sacramento, CA six weeks ago, on December 8th. Garcia was running his first race since the 2024 Paris Olympic Marathon, after recovering from two hip surgeries (right and left) following the Olympics. The race attracted the top four in the South Carolina Road Race Rankings as Quattlebaum is currently first with Drew, Weitzel and Fisher ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
